How the garden grows

Well today is a gully washer, but yesterday was a fine garden day! I planted out some of the tomatoes and watermelons grown in the little greenhouse as well as some strawberries I purchased from Crossroads Cafe.

The blueberries on the hill have set fruit and the blackberries have blooms! Now Mother Nature is watering with a vengeance! I have a river in the back yard I call the Bank Swallow Creek. Welcome spring!

Garden update

It was a stellar day! I am loving spring. ❤️

Made 4 more crate beds and planted more stuff. It’s warm enough now to direct sow many things. More carrots, some sugar snap peas, herbs and flowers.

The greenhouse plants are doing good too-the ones that survived the day I left it closed too long and it cooked....😢😢

I got new starts to replace the losses... live and learn.

Happy Spring Equinox!

The arugula is coming in- and the radish! I got a rain water collection system put in today. And planted some gladiolus and acanthadera- what a beautiful day it was!

Sustainability in the suburbs - is it worth it?

So, it’s been a long time since I have blogged. I am picking it back up as an alternative to posting to FB.

This year, we are in a new house, (new construction) with no landscaping at all.  I am one year post- cancer diagnosis (and surgery) and also a year into a global pandemic.  I have been dreaming of a vegetable garden like the old days.

So, first I bought a little mini-greenhouse.  And a TON of seeds.

Then, I got some stuff to start seeds.
